RippleUX strives to be the premier competition platform to promote STEM education in Singapore and beyond. The theme for this year’s competition is “Unmanned Vehicles and Artificial Intelligence”.

The competition offers categories for Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels, welcoming students of all ages to compete in innovative challenges.

Jointly organized by ripplecreate, Nanyang Polytechnic and Uavionics Society of Nanyang Technological University, our supporting partners include DSO (Defence Science Organisation), DSTA (Defence Science and Technology Agency) and Deloitte, one of the largest professional services network in the world.

Zone 1: Intelligent Robots

Junior Category (7 to 12 years old) :

Participants are required to build and code a smart vehicle to overcome tasks and challenges in an arena circuit.

Teams are required to use line tracing algorithm, ultra-sound distance sensing and servo motor control to solve problem in the arena.

Senior Category (13 to 17 years old) :

Participants are required to build and code a smart vehicle to overcome tasks and challenges in an arena circuit.

Teams are required to use colour sensors, precise motion control, line tracing algorithm, ultra-sound distance sensing and servo motor control to solve challenging problems in the arena.

Tertiary School Category:

Participants will be trained by Nanyang Technology University to learn more about unmanned vehicles.

Teams are required to use robotic vehicles and RFID technology to compete a series of challenges

Recommended Platform: NTU UAVionic Competition Pack or any other robotics platforms.

Zone 2: Drone Racing Challenge

Aside from the recommended, any other platforms may be used.

Junior Category (7 to 12 years old) :

For the Junior Category, each team is required to code their micro:bit to control the drone and complete the mission in 3 minutes. Points will be awarded for each flight obstacle cleared and for drones landing successfully on the landing station. The competition field consist of a Drone Flight Zone (12m x 12m) with 5 Landing Stations, 2 Launch Pads and flight obstacles.

Senior Category (13 to 17 years old):

For Mission 1 for the Senior Category, each team is required to code their micro:bit to control the drone and complete the mission in 3 minutes. Points will be awarded for each flight obstacle cleared and for drones landing successfully on the landing station. The competition field consist of a Drone Flight Zone (12m x 12m) with 5 Landing Stations, 2 Launch Pads and flight obstacles.

For Mission 2, each team is required to code their micro:bit to set the drone on a pre-coded flight path. Each team has a maximum of 3 tries to complete the mission and points are awarded for drones landing accurately on the landing stations. The competition field for mission 2 consists of a Drone Flight Zone and a Drone Autonomous Zone (4m x 4m) with 1 Landing Station, 1 Launch Pad and flight obstacles.
